The Opportunity:
The CLIA Business Manager for the Roche Molecular CAP/CLIA Laboratory analyzes data to improve processes and operations, creating a strategic direction and roadmap for the CLIA laboratory to achieve annual goals and future success in Pharma Services. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams at the leadership and supporting levels, playing a critical role in both the short-term success of the Pharma Services business and the long-term direction of Roche's Molecular Laboratories.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of San Jose, CA is $132,400 - $246,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The CLIA Business Manager for the Roche Molecular CAP/CLIA Laboratory analyzes data to improve processes and operations, creating a strategic direction and roadmap for the CLIA laboratory to achieve annual goals and future success in Pharma Services. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams at the leadership and supporting levels, playing a critical role in both the short-term success of the Pharma Services business and the long-term direction of Roche's Molecular Laboratories.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will be a key member of the CLIA Leadership team and the Personalized Healthcare Solutions (PHCS) network, supporting the inception, development and management of CLIA projects and programs
- You will hold a strategic planning and operational role that is defined by laboratory business needs based from data-driven analyses and the proactive identification of opportunities for streamlining, continuous improvements and future success
- You will drive and maintain the lifecycle of projects from identification, proposal, budget, timeline, milestone completion and overall updates on health and progress
- You will collaborate with multiple functions including Business Development, Global Market Insight, Molecular Labs R&D, Portfolio Management and Alliance Management, Clinical Study Project Management, and CLIA Operations Team for business data gathering, analysis, and future paths forward
- You will align business data with Molecular Laboratory high-level strategy to develop a CLIA-specific portfolio and project roadmap, driving data-backed decision-making
- You will identify gaps and process changes to enhance cross-functional collaboration and efficiency, manage process improvement and CLIA service expansion projects
- You may oversee a small operations support team while providing coaching, training, and opportunities for growth
- Additional duties may be assigned as the business and role evolves
Who you are:
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Informatics, Computer Science or equivalent
- 8 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- You have 10 years of experience in the biotechnology industry, with at least 3 years in a CLIA laboratory.
- You have strong project management experience (5 years) and people management experience (3 years), with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- You have knowledge of the CLIA lab operating model and operations, including an awareness of CLIA regulations and California Business and Professions Code for clinical laboratories offering high complexity genetic molecular biology tests.
- You have familiarity with financial income statements and proficiency in web-based Google applications (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Smartsheet), along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
