As a member of the Global Program Management Lead Team, in this role, you lead the Program Management Office. As the Global Head of the Program Management Office, you are responsible for several critical areas that are core to the effective performance of Global Research and Development including:
Main contribution of the role
Ensure visibility to the R&D activities including timelines, budgets, scope, risks, and interdependencies
Drive strategic initiatives allowing for product development productivity
Manage and monitor R&D resource management and budgeting
Ensure continuous harmonization and simplification of program management tools
Manage an Agile Program Management Office
Main responsibilities
Identify and implement new Project Management tools to assist in the decision making of resource allocation and R&D investments.
Lead and participate in global project review meetings
Manage the activities of the program management team to achieve on time and on budget product development projects
Provide mentoring for the program management office, including communication, technical, and interpersonal skills critical to successfully managing projects. Develop and grow people and attract / retain key talent to enable a fit-for-future organization
Work with cross functional teams to acquire and implement new tools for improving project management functions in alignment with organizational needs
Track and document project successes, failures, and lessons learned across projects to continuously improve the program success
Act as a project manager for high-priority and strategically important projects
Establish strategic goals and objectives in line with supporting the vision and mission of Global R&D and Roche Diabetes. Manage project management office to maximize work that can be accomplished in conjunction with business priorities
Manage the Program Management Office (PMO) to ensure visibility to Solution Development Projects, Core Projects, and Strategic R&D Projects timelines, budgets, scope, risks, and interdependencies. Provide long term vision of projects scheduled, identifying and mitigating potential risks
Drive strategic project initiatives that allow to overall R&D and program efficiency and productivity and foster overall R&D operational excellence
Create and monitor program and overall R&D key performance metrics, and drive data analysis and associated process improvement and risk mitigation activities. Use both internal and external sources to provide the resulting information and recommendations for both everyday decision making, as well as input into the iPDM strategy.
Work closely with development teams, the lean agile center of excellence, communities of practice, and release train engineers.
Partner closely with SCS, R&D, Quality, Operations, OneMedical to provide agile Diabetes Care portfolio operations.
Facilitate and continuously improve on R&D business processes feeding into the overall End to End Process

Partner with the organization to proactively identify decision criteria, clear hurdles, and conduct health checks to ensure ways of working reflect agile practices

Required
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering or science)
A minimum of 5 years of product development experience with an additional 3 years of Project Management related experience in a highly regulated product development environment operating with Design Control procedures, preferably within the medical device industry.
Strong system thinking skills with ability to synthesize information quickly
Demonstrated aptitude for successfully managing multiple projects, of varying complexity, within the specified guidelines, timeframes, and budgets
Deep and proven strength in persuasive communication and negotiation skills
Proven skills and practice in use of agile methods in difficult multidisciplinary context
Extensive technical, business acumen, and customer acumen with strategic, conceptual and holistic thinking
A self-starter with ability to work independently and deal with ambiguity
Possesses strong interpersonal skills to effectively and successfully manage stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership skills with capability to guide, coach, motivate, influence and empower others across different hierarchical levels within international project set-up
Deep project management skills – demonstrated track record of project planning, execution, tracking and post-mortem analysis.
Strong reputation for integrity and ethics.
Proficient in SAFe and agile methodologies with proven skill set in scrum and lean principles
Business level fluency in English
Preferred
Advanced, multi-disciplinary degree preferred
10-15 years related business experience, with at least 8 years’ experience leading global teams and negotiating conflicting needs
Proven management or supervisory experience in leading people and/or a project team demonstrating consistently the Roche Leadership Commitments
