Job Title: Commercial Door, Frame and Hardware Estimator
Department: Commercial
Position Overview
Supports the mission of Rochester Colonial as part of the Commercial Department. Identifies opportunities and prepares bids and quotes for division. An ideal Estimator keeps the
Commercial Department leadership aware of upcoming bids and negotiated job opportunities that have the potential of winning on a daily basis. Follow-up information on all bids/quotes submitted to confirm won or lost.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist in identifying and prioritizing bids and responding to invitations to bid
- Submits accurate bids within timeframe for projects, working within design, budget and schedule
- Prepares reports for bids, quotes and sales leads both earned and lost for management
- Performs takeoffs and develops door, frame, and hardware estimate
- Accommodate customer’s needs through review of RFI’s and ASI’s during the estimating process
- Exhibits positive, insightful and friendly attitude with customers to meet their needs and expectations
- Assist and resolve customer concerns during the estimating process
- Clearly and effectively communicate with customers via telephone and email
- Additional tasks that support commercial department sales at the discretion of the management team
- Develop customer base from past bids and negotiated jobs for continued success in the marketplace.
Qualifications
- Self-starter with a high attention to detail and highly organized
- Ability to work independently with little direction
- College degree preferred (construction management)
- HS diploma and one or more of the following o A minimum of one year in the hardware, construction, or distribution industries o Door Hardware Institute certification such as AOC, AHC, CDC, EHC or another professional association certification in related field desired.
Other Skills/Abilities
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate and understand written and oral instructions
- Ability to read and comprehend building schematics, construction blue prints, and construction documents.
Competencies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn other software for data entry and utilization of sales programs
- Product and application knowledge, including the ability to read and comprehend manufacturers specifications
- Perform basic mathematical functions in the course of sales and customer support
- Familiarity with construction methods and practices
