We are currently expanding our operations to the East/ Southeast region of the country.
Summary:
Provide and/or coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work and all types of contracts. Manage projects from start to finish. Ability to hire and manage personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Provide complete conceptual (or bid work) and final estimating input on complex projects.
Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.
Insure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
Assist contracting department during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
Track awarded contracts as required – may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit; procuring materials, etc.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor s direction.
Requirements:
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Education and Experience:
Four year engineering degree or equivalent combinations technical training and/or related experience. 5-10 years estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience (at least 4 years estimating experience) in similar facility construction. Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, cost control systems and accounts required. Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort essential. Experience working with DOT's, Federal Highway, and or Railroads is helpful, but not a dealbreaker.
Safety Considerations:
Typically works in an office environment. May be required to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Periodically will be required to conduct site visits to evaluate site conditions for making estimates of work to be done. Must wear personal protective equipment in the field to include safety glasses, boots, and similar. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold environments of a limited basis. May be required to walk over rough terrain and climb slopes. Extended walking, climbing and use of hands and feet will be necessary. May be required to drive a company vehicle and must have a valid driver s license and approval prior to driving a company owned or leased vehicle.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
