Job description
We are looking for a Divisional Controller to join a growing company. The position will report into the President of division. This role will be responsible for the financial and risk management operations with additional responsibilities across the organization including the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Close coordination with the Underwriting units is an integral function in establishing financial and operational control.
Responsibilities:
· Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
· Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
· Manage the financial reporting and accounting
· Oversee the financial operations and develop an in-depth knowledge of the crop insurance products. Work closely with and understand the role of Underwriting, Human Resources, Legal/Compliance and Claims.
· Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
· Oversee the company's transaction processing systems and closing process
· Understand and improve operational workflow and implement operational best practice
· Oversee financial employee compensation and bonus levels, with particular emphasis on mentoring and development for finance employees
· Work closely with actuarial department to ensure proper controls and reporting for the Revenue Protection products, including derivative transactions.
· Keep current on GAAP, statutory and technical accounting rules for P&C insurance as related to the insurance products.
· Provide accurate and timely data necessary for the issuance of Statutory and US GAAP financial reports and information.
· Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Risk Management Agency (RMA) and provide timely management reporting.
· Compute accurate and timely profit sharing calculations for agent partners.
· Compute accurate and timely bonus payments to Regional Managers.
· Monitor and report on cash flow needs of the division.
· Report financial results and provide management reporting to Senior Management
· Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
· Construct and monitor reliable control systems
· Ensure that the company complies with all financial and regulatory requirements
· Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of internal and external auditors and regulatory authorities
· Report risk issues to the Senior Management
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
