POSITION TITLE: Recording Secretary to the Board of Directors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree
  • Preference: 2 years secretarial experience in a school setting - Charter school experience is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Efficient in taking and transcribing oral dictation
  • Basic understanding of Roberts Rule of order; prior experience with a non-profit Board of Directors preferred
  • Proficient with Google Drive; Microsoft Office
  • Must pass background check

REPORTS TO: RMCA Board President

SCHEDULE: Attend all Board meetings (typically monthly, Thursday evenings); prep for meeting and follow up on action items after meeting. Other hours vary.

COMPENSATION: $15.00/hour

SUMMARY: The Recording Secretary to the Board is an employee of the Board of Directors and not a voting member of the Board. The Recording Secretary ensures meetings are effectively organized and minutes are recorded as per legal guidelines. Recording Secretary will maintain effective records, upholding the legal requirements of governing documents,

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Create monthly agenda as directed by the Board President
  • Post agenda as per requirements of the Bylaws each month
  • Taking and transcribing minutes of meetings.
  • Preparing material for meetings: notices, resolutions, agenda, and related reports.
  • Handling personal or confidential information
  • Working knowledge of Charter Schools generally and roles of Board and Administration of RMCA specifically
  • Providing official School Board records to state auditors and attorneys as needed
  • Maintaining online files and postings for all official School Board minutes and records
  • Assist Board President with annual elections
  • Maintaining records of Directors’ contact information and terms.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 5 per week
