What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender position at ROOST Apartment Hotel?
We are seeking BARTENDERS to join our team! Be a part of the experience as we seek talented team members to bring our restaurant to life. The Quoin is an elevated Mediterranean wood-fired inspired restaurant located in The Quoin Hotel just off of N. Market St. in downtown Wilmington. At The Quoin, we will offer a Mediterranean influenced wood-fired menu. It features a magnificent 115 seat dining room adorned with rich colors, plush banquettes and beautiful wood finishes. After, guests can join us for a crafted cocktail in our speakeasy, Simmer Down.
The environment of The Quoin will be easy and elevated with the attitude of the staff greatly influencing this. As a chef needs to be knowledgeable of their product and a resource for all staff members in selling product, the Bartender team is required to be the most knowledgeable resource on all beverage menu items: Wines, cocktails, spirits, and beer. The bartender team will be the cornerstone to anchoring The Quoin dining experience. You will be snappy with your knowledge, quick on your feet, and calm of mind and body.

WHAT YOU OFFER:
- Provide guidance and clear instruction to barbacks on expectations and needs for the shift
- Include an element of staff education for every lineup
- Offer full service to guests at the bar, should they like it, incorporating established service standards that guests in the dining room should expect.
- Manage service well drinks and strive for a 4-minute ticket time
- Own and manage rotation of clean and polished glassware
- Properly handle cash and closing guest tabs
- Keep a clean and properly rotated bar, using older products before moving into fresh prep. Quality check all day old stock before using.
- Work clean, as all service areas are within full view of guests.
- During down time, checking off cleaning duties on weekly cleaning schedule
- On shift change, making sure to restock before clocking out
- At end of night, performing closing duties to completion
- Adhere to established service standards and protocols
- Ring in orders timely and correctly
- Offer suggestions for beverage and food, don’t “upsell” but be genuinely invested in their experience
- Check in after courses are dropped within an appropriate timeframe to ensure their satisfaction
- If a guest has a qualm, bring it to the attention of of a manager immediately and evaluate how to proceed from there
- Follow proper “Manners” protocol when interacting with any guest
- Come to work showered and prepared with appropriate tools, laundered and pressed uniform, correct shoes, and a good attitude.
- Inform management if for any reason you do not feel well, have a personal matter that may interfere with your work, or if you are running late.
