POSITION TITLE: Shipper Manager

REPORTS TO: Complex Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The person that works as the Cooler Manager shall fulfill a role that is crucial for survival in the egg industry. A job overview may consist of assuring timely shipment of product, unloading and loading trucks, processing invoices and bills of lading that are sent to the office, assuring ample product in the cooler for weekly shipments, maintain inventory, perform weekly audits to balance all reported paperwork, and monitor the cooler and freezer personnel to ensure that they abide by the Rose Acre policy and follow quality control standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for the management of the cooler facility – including managing employees, scheduling, maintenance, and general inventory, evaluating, and if necessary, reprimanding cooler employees.
• Responsible for checking orders to ensure that all customer requests are filled before being loaded onto the trucks for shipment.
• Responsible for the cooler inventory and accounting for differences in the inventory or unusual discrepancies.
• Responsible for ensuring quality control procedures are followed in the cooler.
• Responsible for operating machines unloading and loading trucks as necessary.
• Responsible for filling out the egg sign out and inventory sheets and faxing them to the office daily.
• Responsible for communicating with the sales dept. and transport dept. daily on organizing egg loads and transfers to customers in the timeliest manner possible.
• Responsible for ordering supply materials that are needed (tape, packaging, cartons etc.)
• Responsible for sending bill of lading sheets to the main office daily whenever egg loads are moved in/out of the facility.
• Capable of working in an environment that may be physically demanding (extreme temperature differences, moderate walking throughout the day etc.)
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Capable of working late (if needed) past the scheduled leave time to complete the job.
• Capable of working weekend shifts and maintaining a flexible schedule to help other departments should they need assistance on a particular day, or covering when employees in the cooler are absent, miss or take vacations. This may include working nights, and holidays.
• Some travel is required when deemed necessary.
• Must be able to operate power jack and forklift.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• High School education is required – basic communication and math skills are highly desired.
• Capable of performing miscellaneous management functions at once – maintaining organizations in the cooler and ensuring that all egg loads are shipped to customers on time.
• Ability to maintain an egg inventory accurately, and see to it that all shipments are properly documented.
• Capable of operating various machines within the facility – general mechanical experience is highly desirable.
• Capable of treating all employees and customers with respect.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
• Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
• Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
• Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
