Rosemonts Cafe opening day is Saturday, April 30th! Rosemonts Cafe is a new start-up owned by a young entrepreneur in the heart of the Windansea neighborhood of La Jolla, just a block away from the beach. Rosemonts is searching for an experienced Sandwich Maker who is also willing to learn how to be a barista! The ideal candidate is quick and efficient at preparing food and has service industry experience, is very personable and enjoys making conversation to build a relationship with neighborhood locals. The ideal candidate is able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment and is also passionate about working for a "start-up”, loves providing great service and quality products, and is happy to go above and beyond to ensure every customer feels welcomed and valued. Rosemonts will have an exciting, fun atmosphere to work at as it will be the new neighborhood hangout. It is very important that all customers have a friendly and engaging experience with Rosemonts employees.

Requirement: Sandwich Making experience and strong customer service skills. Preferred experience as a barista too.

$15/hour plus great tips (expected $5-$15/hour more with tip pool)

Hours of operation: 6:30a-2p, open 7 days a week

Some Responsibilities Include:

• Clean work areas, equipment, utensils and dishes.
• Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage
• Prepare all menu items according to customers' orders or owners instructions (following exact recipes)
• Package take-out foods
• Portion and wrap the food, or place it directly on plates for service to patrons
• Inform owner when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly (maintain stock)
• Weigh or measure ingredients
• Wash, peel and/or cut various foods to prepare for serving
• Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas
• Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers

• Greet customers as they enter

• Up-sell menu items

• Know the menu inside and out

• Occasionally take orders, (receive and process payments), while paying attention to details and customer preferences

• Prep food in advance for sandwiches, toasts, oats, yogurt, charcuterie boards

• Make sure inside and outside of cafe is always clean - we are a team
• Make sure dishes are cleaned and put away

• Comply with health and safety regulations

• Communicate customer feedback to owner

Depending on your experience, we have a full-time and a part-time position available. The pay for this position starts at $15 per hour plus very good tips are expected - probably an average of $5-$15/hour more when including the tip pool.
