POSITION SUMMARY
The Paint Prepper will prepare the truck for the paint process according to job specifications and ensure quality in the paint prep process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
All employees are required to support Rosenbauers Mission, Vision, and Values. The following are the essential duties of this position and do not include marginal functions that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. The scope and duties of a given position may change or be temporarily altered based on the business needs of Rosenbauer.
- Be efficient in tools/equipment to sand, grind, and apply body filler to the apparatus to prepare for paint.
- Wipes down the cab with wax and grease remover.
- Inspects for flaws, dents, or imperfections on the trucks body.
- Compares to spec book and follows along with guidelines to best prepare the body.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:
- High School Diploma/GED.
Preferred Education:
- Associate degree or equivalent of a two-year college or technical school in Autobody.
Required Experience:
- None.
Preferred Experience:
- 2 years in the autobody/industrial work force.
Position Requirements:
- Locate work orders and process them within the time allotment according to the work order, production schedule, and department objectives.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely.
- Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
- Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
- You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.

Computer Skills:
- Ability to learn how to run a computer terminal or PC.
- No prior experience required (Incumbent will look up and/or enter information into a pre-formatted screen).

- Responsibilities are frequently guided and reviewed by a supervisor.
- They follow a standard set of instructions that describe the proper procedures for handling problems that may occur.
- Supervisor or other personnel would handle any problems not covered by these instructions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. The shop is climate controlled. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop, which can make it difficult to talk or hear. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from the chemicals in the paint and other chemicals used in the process, but following proper procedures should minimize risk. There are fumes being produced. Most fumes are contained to the paint booths. Sometimes there can be low light when working on some areas of the truck. Space within the shop can be confined (especially within paint booth), causing limitations on any movement When working in this position, there will be times were climbing onto or underneath trucks may be necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires standing, walking, and the use of arms, hands, and fingers for the entire shift. Noise levels will generally be moderate. There will also be times were climbing on ladders and trucks will be necessary. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, legs, arms, and hands for over 60 minutes at a time. For vision, it is best for clear vision at 20 inches or less. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
