RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates as a member of the facilities management team in planning and administrative decision making with reference to the role, functions and operations of the facilities nursing services within the framework of the objectives and policies established by Abri Health Services plans and coordinates nursing services. In summary, is responsible for patient care, management, resource management and fiscal management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a current RN license(s)
- CPR certification required
- Ability to understand, remember and carry out verbal or written instructions in English
- Ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
- Ability to work flexibly and positively with intermittent interruptions
- Prior nurse management in long term care/skilled nursing preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- To assure resident safety
- Responsible for managing, directing, and supervising nursing services
- Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practice within the facility
- Assesses the quality of care rendered
- Helps development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services and other services under his or her position control
- Helps in verifying employee credentials under his or her position control
- Responsible for staff performance, staff recruitment, staff retention and staff development
- Responsible for collaborating with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development
- Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a budgeted process for staffing and services rendered
- Plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs
- Evaluates the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services within the goals of the facility
- Serves as spokesperson for nursing matters and represents the facility with professional nursing and related organizations
- Participate with interviewing and selection of new team members. Provide direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions
- Serves on various committees as requested by Administrator
- Participate in daily stand up, quality of life rounds, manager on duty and other assignments per Administrator and company standards
- Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols
- Monitors employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service and productivity
- Takes responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by the Administrator
- Adapts procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet the requirements of the position
- Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards
- Participates in appropriate meetings and committees
- Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family members and guests
- Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations
- Use appropriate workplace behavior and adheres to dress code at all times
- Other duties as assigned
- Know and participate in the facility emergency preparedness plan
- Adhere to dress code
- Perform other duties/tasks as may be assigned
- Complete and/or attend required in-service training
- Communicate in a professional and courteous manner using effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills with residents, their families, and team members
- Maintain confidentiality of department, resident, employee information, communication, and documentation as well as compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations
- Clock in and out for all working/training hours. Working off the clock is not permitted at any time or for any reason
- Maintain compliance with company’s Compliance program and plan
- Adhere to the Abri Code of Conduct
- These duties are not all-inclusive but provide minimum performance expectations and are reviewed in the performance process
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Have the ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations
WORK SCHEDULE: As assigned; including some weekends, holidays, and evenings. Non-Exempt Position
