IT Generalist
The Information Technology Generalist is responsible for implementing and managing systems and solutions via integration of a broad spectrum of individual hardware and software technologies; performs administrative and technical procedures on information systems and maintains documentation; covers multiple functional areas.
This position covers planning and delivery of company support services including installation, consultation, troubleshooting, user assistance, and training. Functions may include diagnosing and resolving problems in response to internally reported issues; planning and analysis of work processes; researching and reporting trends and patterns of problems; developing training materials and performing information system training sessions; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software; performing backup and recovery operations; consulting with users to identify needs and requirements; preparing business cases; ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.
This role is focused on user success for a growing company in the residential utility service industry. It may require some occasional travel (10% or less). There are no direct reports for this position. Someone successful in this role will spearhead technological innovation to maintain, improve, and secure operations by leveraging appropriate IT solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of Windows operating system and Microsoft Office is necessary, particularly Excel
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android devices)
- Ability to manage time, organize, and set priorities
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
- Proficiency in English
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to maintain and improve a small organization’s technology infrastructure
- Minimum 3 years work experience in IT
- Related IT Certifications or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Administration, Cybersecurity, or other relevant degree
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification is acceptable
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of myPay Solutions and Accounting CS
- Familiar with Citrix
- SaaS products like management information systems, learning management systems, dashboards, etc.
- HRMS such as BambooHR or Workday
- CRM platforms such as ServiceTitan or Salesforce
- Apple Business Manager
- MDM software such as IBM MaaS360, Microsoft Intune, or Citrix Endpoint Management
- On-site or cloud-based VoIP system management
Areas of Responsibility
- Troubleshooting for employees seeking technical assistance
- Technology hardware inventory management (Mobile devices, printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, etc.)
- Clearly communicating with company employees in person, on phone, email, or other application
- Diagnosing employee’s IT related issues accurately and quickly resolving the issue
- Call center VoIP system
- Coordinate with internet service providers and mobile carriers
- Set up, troubleshoot, and remove employee emails
- Video conference support and administration
- Troubleshoot and Administer users access to Citrix applications
- Modification of user accounts as needed
- Setup and delivery of computer hardware to employees. New hires, replacement, or repair
- Desk setup (Monitors, laptop, accessories)
- Laptop computer configuration
- Issues with printers, scanners, fax machines, etc.
- Assist users with initial access
- Device network / Wi-Fi issues
- iPhone / iPad issues
- Troubleshoot device issues with users
- Adding and removing from groups
- Following all facility safety protocols
