Who we're looking for:
The Marketing & Business Analytics team supports the company's marketing efforts, while also working with teams throughout the organization. The analytics team is responsible for a number of business-critical reports and data models that our global marketing teams rely on for daily reporting, budgeting, and analysis. Our team actively drives business value through partnering with stakeholders across the marketing organization and influencing the long term strategy of new customer acquisition. We lean into ambiguity to scale the business and push the boundaries of performance marketing at Rover.

We are specifically looking for an analyst with a background in market research to define and execute on the strategy to ignite markets, driving value beyond the reach of our nationwide marketing initiatives. Leveraging a commercial mindset, this analyst will identify specific markets (cities, metro areas, etc.) to launch localized marketing campaigns, while partnering closely with our marketing, analytics, public relations, and product teams to measure and drive sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate will have a background in research, preferably at a market level, the ability to manipulate and analyze large, complex datasets, and the skills to build consensus across the organization. This is the first Market Analyst role at Rover - we are searching for a candidate who is passionate about the opportunity to build a new domain from the ground up!

Your Responsibilities:
    • Build the foundation of market analytics at Rover and be the single owner for measuring and narrating localized trends and marketing performance for all of Rover.
    • Identify metrics to measure local market evolution and growth opportunities. Articulate key factors that enable or inhibit growth based on historical performance and current landscape.
    • Partner with our growth marketing and product teams to conceptualize strategies and local marketing tests to sustainably scale individual markets
    • Design and implement A/B tests to measure the effectiveness of new marketing initiatives.
    • Drive improved understanding of brand awareness/consideration at a local level, helping quantify the relationship between market-level growth rates, customer retention, and awareness.
    • Construct and implement frameworks for identifying focus markets based on addressable opportunity, competitive landscape, and brand awareness.
    • Present to, and build consensus with, senior leadership across marketing, analytics, finance, and product.

Your Qualifications
    • At least 4 years experience working cross-functionally with complex datasets to support organizational decision making
    • You love driving business outcomes - 3 years experience using a data driven approach to define growth/marketing strategies or being directly accountable for driving sustainable revenue growth for a business unit
    • Experience with market analysis or research (quantitative and qualitative) in an academic or business setting. You have the data fluency to pull apart differences in regional performance and the intuition to tie these trends to brand awareness, word of mouth, marketing, and product dynamics in those markets.
    • Fluency in SQL. You would feel confident reviewing code produced by analyst and data scientist peers, as well as assisting non-technical colleagues with their reports in an office hours setting.
    • A college degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., math, data science, statistics, business, marketing)
    • Skilled at building interactive data visualizations in online tools (e.g., Mode, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Specifically, you know how to narrate business trends, models, and results to business partners in a useful, concise, and meaningful way.
    • Experience working with cross-functional business partners to define business problems, scope project deliverables/timelines, implement reporting solutions, and frame organizational strategy

Nice to Have:
    • Hands-on experience running marketing tests or A/B tests and measuring results using a variety of methods (e.g., ordinary and weighted least squares, casual impacts)
    • Two-sided marketplace analytics experience and/or marketing analytics experience, especially with performance marketing
    • Knowledge of nationwide marketing channels (Video, Paid Search, Display, etc.) and local marketing channels (Radio, Local TV, Physical Placements, Newspapers, etc.)
    • Awareness of GDPR/Cookie compliance, IDFA, and Google Tag Manager
    • Familiarity with AWS (Redshift, S3, EMR) or similar cloud products

Compensation:
    • In the greater Seattle area the first year salary range is $109,653 - $140,356. Additionally Rover offers equity (RSU's) and benefits to all employees.
    • The cash compensation offered for this role will be dependent on the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills and abilities as demonstrated in the interview and hiring process.
