FT Custodian/Maintenance Worker

We are looking for a responsible, full-time Custodian/Maintenance worker to assist with the day-to-day upkeep of our school campus. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. The ideal candidate is punctual, dependable, follows through on assigned duties, and has a friendly "can-do" attitude. This person will have great physical endurance to cover a large space. An eye for detail and diligence are important in this school custodial position. Familiarity and skill with basic building maintenance a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure spaces are kept clean and safe for both the current and the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture, and dusting surfaces
• Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap, paper towels, toilet paper)
• Wipe mirrors and windows
• Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances if applicable
• Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests
• Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.)
• Report major damages
• Report and repair minor damages/concerns independently or with assistance as needed
• Secure facilities (as appropriate) by locking doors, closing windows and setting up the alarm
• Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (Blowing leaves from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs etc.)

Skills

• Previous custodial experience a plus, but willing to train the right person
• Knowledge of use and maintenance cleaning equipment, products, and appliances
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
• Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices helpful, but not required
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness
• Very good physical condition and strength
• High school diploma is preferred but not required

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
