Job Summary
The Machine Shop Team Lead ensures that all team members are working safely and efficiently to produce quality parts according to the production schedule while following our QA procedures. As this is a working team lead role, the Mid Shop Team Lead will be responsible for CU Profi, brake press, piranha, manual mills, and aluminum welding. They will be responsible for reporting all material, MRO, and process issues to their supervisor. Annually, the Mid Shop Team Lead will grade the leads on the 5s of their area, First Pass Yield (Quality), and on-time performance.
Machine Shop Team Lead Responsibilities:
- Ensure the highest level of process compliance and accuracy are maintained for all activities
- Supervise 8-9 hourly fabrication line workers
- Coordinate with manager to ensure hourly manpower is available to support daily fabrication requirements
- Verify material availability for fabrication orders with the warehouse team
- Monitor and report daily status of fabrication orders on the shop floor
- Lead or perform accurate and timely internal job order processing on the ERP system
- Utilize analysis skills to determine root causes of quality issues and implement actions to resolve them
- Learn the processes and products and become a "student of the business"
- Provide support and coordination for the annual physical inventory activity
Machine Shop Team Lead Requirements:
- Natural leader who teammates want to follow with the ability to teach others and drive to company results

- Strong background in operating machinery; ability to program machinery; mechanically inclined
- Punctual; Work regular shifts to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as assigned. May be subject to call back, on call and/or emergency shifts
- Must possess general manual dexterity to operate computer, equipment, tools, controls, or other objects; reach with hands or arms
- Must possess mental acuity for attention to accuracy and detail, be highly organized, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must see in the normal visual/audio ranges with or without correction
- Ability to perform Syteline transactions and interpret blueprints used in fabrication
- Enjoys a challenge
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to provide effective feedback on performance, take and provide direction, and adapt to changes
- Experience with continuous improvements
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing Methodology (5S)
