Silviculture Technician

Reporting To: Silviculture Forester
Description
The silviculture technician will be responsible for providing support to the silviculture forester in the Oakdale Forestry District. Responsibilities include:
- GIS, collecting, reporting, and maintaining land-ownership data
- Logging supervision
- Timber cruising
- Complying with FSC regulations
- Auditing
- Supervising various silviculture activities for contract compliance
- Other duties require attending police jury meetings and communicating outcomes
Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalency.
- An outstanding safety record in all aspects of previous employment history is crucial.
- Forestry-focused background experience or training through a vocational/technical program is preferred.
- Experience in GIS, contractor supervision, implementing silviculture prescriptions, and using maps and GPS for timber inventory is desired.
- The willingness to obtain drone certification and a CDL to operate a lowboy truck and dozer is also preferred.

This individual will be required to work independently, as well as part of a team. Developmental training is a condition of successful service in this role.
