RS&H is seeking an Office Engineer for our Transportation Construction Management Team, in the Dallas Fort Worth, TX area. This position acts as Owner’s Representative for inspection and contract administration during the construction of large-scale projects.
Essential Function:
- Verify construction is performed in substantial compliance with the contract documents and manages the consultant contract, including responsibility for accounts receivable, subconsultant management, and client management interface.
- This position requires independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/ modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, and must be able to independently solve problems and make decisions.
- Supervision and guidance mainly concern overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- Problems faced are difficult and often complex.
- Directs construction engineering administration and inspection program
- Draft all Owner’s-side project correspondence, review claims, change orders, requests for time extensions
- Participates in marketing and development of new contract opportunities and pursuits
- Maintains professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 7 years relevant experience
- PE required
- Prior experience in construction of major road or bridge structure
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders
- Proven ability to successfully address challenging or potentially controversial issues in a sound professional and business-like manner
- NTTA and TXDOT experience preferred by not required
Physical Demands:
- Able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours). Occasionally required to sit and stoop
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job
- Subject to environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside
- Able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites
