What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Design Researcher position at RSM?
- Primary, Secondary, and Analogous Research Methods - You’ll draft detailed research plans, facilitate interviews with stakeholders, and plan immersions, surveys, focus groups… whatever it takes to frame the problem.
- Workshops – we design experiences that enable stakeholders to feel safe, heard, and able to engage in discussions about complex topics and experiences. You’ll design and conduct these remote and in-person workshops, identifying the required outcomes, developing frameworks and exercises to elicit insight, and facilitating the discussions that emerge.
- Immersive Research – you’ll identify and plan opportunities to step into the worlds of the people we’re designing for, and obsessively document their experiences
- Synthesis – You’ll learn to guide storytelling & team reflection on research and standout findings, developing insights, design principles, and frameworks of understanding. Ï Create thoughtful presentations that communicate actionable concepts to our client partners.
- Ideation and Prototyping – You’ll leverage your research findings to facilitate thoughtful ideation and validation exercises with project teams.
- Work with project teams and partners to define usability metrics and success criteria that ensure that the solutions we design are useful and delightful for the people they serve.
- Learn to advocate for human-centered design and the importance of centering people in our work across RSM’s business units.
- 2-4 years of professional or post-graduate experience creating and facilitating user research and conceptualizing new experiences · Strong communication skills - building narratives to share research outcomes with team members, clients, and project stakeholders
- Experience helping teams adopt and follow best research practices, apply findings, and develop strategically-aligned concepts
- A strong portfolio that demonstrates your talents and experience in researching and building beautiful, human-centered experiences
- Proficiency with common design and collaboration software, including Figma, Miro, and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite
- Experience visualizing research and data through compelling design is a plus
- Experience with video production and editing is a plus
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Design discipline, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Psychology, or equivalent experience. Many backgrounds make for excellent, empathetic researchers, and non-traditional candidates are encouraged to apply.
