Job Profile Name: Deputy Project Manager

Job Profile Summary: This position is responsible for the planning, and environment coordination and oversite aspects of the Northwest Rail (NWR) Peak Service Study; and for supporting the stakeholder and public outreach elements of the project. The position will provide support to Manager, Engineering Programs and the Planning Department.

Job Description Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL:

  • Manages transportation planning and environmental coordination and oversite aspects of the NWR Peak Service Study.
  • Provides support to stakeholder and community engagement efforts.
  • Reviews and assess NWR Study documents.
  • Ensures coordination between Capital Programs, Planning and other internal departments.
  • Supports the NWR Project Manager in providing direction, oversight and management of the project consultant team.
  • Supports project management and project control activities.

OTHER:

  • All job-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Regional Science or a related field (i.e. architecture or surveying) is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Degreed/Professional License in Planning, Management is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in managing transportation projects, studies or related efforts. Experience in working on engineering projects with ability to work with stakeholders across several groups

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in functions and operations of a fixed guideway regional transit agency.
  • Proficiency in principles and practices of project management and future planning, including operational needs.
  • Proficiency in contract administration and budget procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.
  • Ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in federal, state, and local regulations covering transportation analysis, planning, and environmental practices.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities.
