Summary: RTL is seeking a Sr Systems Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will participate in implementing, maintaining, and supporting information technologies, with a primary focus on CISCO switching, routing, and firewalls.
Specific Duties include: - Assisting with designing, configuring, and deploying network solutions for our classified environment.
- Will maintain documentation based on customer and company policies and practice security best practices.
- Design, develop, build, and test network engineering solutions as part of a team that introduces new technologies and/or improves existing technologies in compliance with established agile practices.
- Lead major project initiatives, and develop new configurations using expertise in routing protocols, firewalls, security requirements, and network virtualization.
- Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and other network components.
- Analyze and determine corrective actions for secure data communications networks
- Program and troubleshoot KG-175 TACLANE Encryptors.
- Create/Modify Visio and CAD network diagrams and drawings.
- Responsible for conducting site surveys, installing, and configuring network and boundary protection solutions.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware and network/system problems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot servers, switches, and other computer equipment that supports the network.
Basic Qualifications: - Advanced degree and 7 years' experience or bachelor's with 9 years' experience or equivalent in Systems Administration.
- Ability to apply advanced concepts, theories, and principles and contributes toward developing new principles and concepts.
- Can perform work without appreciable direction.
- Ability to function in project leadership roles and represent the organization as prime customer contact on significant technical matters
- Experience with OS/COTS, software
- Must Meet DOD 8570 Level II Requirement (current Security or similar)
- Current CCNA certification
- Hands-on experience with Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls
Desired skills: - Familiarity with encryption devices and configurations
- Experience deploying Static Routes, RIP, OSPF, ISIS, and BGP dynamic protocols
- VLANs, SVIs, and redundant gateway protocols
- Experience with DoD STIGs and compliance
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Ability to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
- Exceptional troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Interpersonal relationship skills are a must.
Security Clearance: This position requires an Active DoD Secret Clearance (T5); you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
