Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:
We’re currently conducting search for a Technical Editor / Writer.
Your responsibilities in this role will include:
  • Editing and writing technical documentation in the area of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), with priority emphasis on your editing capabilities.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Additional responsibilities will include:
  • Development of technical manuals, including material addressing:
    • Preventative and corrective maintenance, schematics and illustrated parts breakdowns from compiled engineering technical reports, drawings and parts lists
    • Maintenance and Operations courses and identification of required student Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), and Programs of Instruction (POIs).
  • Technical Manual validation
  • Identification of supplier manual content requirements
You’ll also assist in the following:
  • Development of illustrations, graphics and flow diagrams to support documentation
  • Support for contract deliverable documentation

This job is based out of our Andover, MA facility, but may require local travel to our other New England offices.

This position can be a salary grade P2 or P3 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, education and responsibility requirements for the position.

For a grade level P3, an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience may be considered for this role. A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this role at this grade level.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Education: Bachelor's degree OR 8 years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. (Two years of related work experience can substitute for one year of college education)
Employment Experience:
  • 2 years’ experience creating written technical or non-technical documentation in a military or civilian environment
  • Experience editing written materials
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • Familiarity with standards-based, XML tagging processes and designs and applications for data product developments and engineering
  • Experience developing vector-based technical illustrations for commercial or military hardware technical manuals
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, PTC IsoDraw, or similar software
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team, inspiring confidence in others
  • Self-initiative, strong written and oral communication skills and team player
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and MS Project
