What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer position at Runway Safe?
General Responsibilities/Purposes:
Supports or directly leads product development projects related to Runway Safe Group’s Engineered Materials Arresting System (EMAS).
Engineering design, instrumentation, controls, and software development using LabView or related software. Familiar with engineering design tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS. LabVIEW Matlab or related.
Works closely with other R&D and Product Development leads to execute R&D projects to support company’s business plan. Initiates and prepares project proposals for funding approval.
Supports the development of next generation EMASMAX.
Supports or directly leads product development activities for mechanical testing of new materials for EMAS coating, encapsulation, anchoring and join sealant. Conducts tests, collects test data, drafts engineering reports for internal review and for FAA approval submissions.
Supports the development of next generation of green EMAS. Identifies, designs, and tests new green EMAS coating systems and installation methods. Conducts component and system tests on product durability and performance. Drafts engineering reports for internal and FAA approval submissions.
Supports or directly leads the development of test equipment related to EMAS performance and other related airport and airfield safety products.
Works closely with product development leads to define requirements of test equipment.
Leads major technical areas to meet design requirements, including instrumentation and control, data acquisition and processing, and software development.
Works with Field Service team and Sales/Marketing personnel to provide product technical support. Supports marketing research and participates in initial product evaluations for new business development opportunities.
Specific Duties and Accountabilities
· Define test requirements, components and systems.
· Define test requirements of new materials.
· Define design requirements and functional parameters for testing. Writes test protocols to outline individual tests to be completed.
· Sets up and performs actual test of system and components. Writes test reports.
· Proposes and implements new ideas of coating and encapsulation systems that will withstand heavy jet blast and harsh weathering conditions at airports.
· Assists with the design of test equipment to provide critical test conditions for evaluating the performance of both arresting material and jet blast coating using appropriate instrumentations.
Education or Basic Knowledge Required
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required. Good knowledge and demonstrated hands-on skills in engineering design, instrumentation, controls, and software development using LabView or related software. Familiar with engineering design tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS. LabVIEW Matlab or related.
