Work Schedule: 8 Hr (9:00:00 AM - 5:30:00 AM)

Summary:
The Teacher Coordinator has the primary responsibility for the care and education of an assigned group of children. The Teacher Coordinator is responsible for coordinating daily lesson planning, parent conferences, child assessment, and curriculum planning. The Teacher Coordinator functions as the team leader and supervises other members of the teaching team. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
1. To establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment
2. Designs appropriate room arrangement to support the goals of the classroom
3. Plans and implements a nutritious activities
4. Promotes healthy eating practices
5. Maintains a clean and safe environment
6. Post necessary information to ensure the safety and well-being of the children
7. Maintains an orderly learning environment
8. To advance physical and intellectual competence
9. Provides a balance between child-initiated and teacher initiated activities
10. Provides a balance between quiet and active learning activities
11. Uses equipment and materials for indoor and outdoor play that promotes children's physical development
12. Provides an integrated curriculum that meets the needs of individual children
13. Plans and implements experiences that promote language and literacy development
14. Plans and implements activities that promote the acquisition of math and science concepts
15. Assists with extracurricular programs such as music, gymnastics, swimming, etc.
16. To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
17. Plans and implements activities that develop positive self-esteem
18. Plans and implements activities that develop social skills
19. Plans and implements culturally diverse experiences
20. Uses and promotes positive guidance techniques
21. Provides a wide variety of creative and expressive activities
22. Establishes routines with smooth transition periods
23. Communicates with children at their developmental level
24. Encourages children to be independent
25. To establish positive and productive relationships with families
26. Relates assessment information to parents and offers support for dealing with children at different developmental stages
27. Promotes communication with parents through progress notes, a monthly newsletter, and parents conferences
28. Provides a variety of ways that families can participate in the program
29. Relates information to parents regarding their health and safety
30. Plans and implements an orientation meeting for parents
31. To ensure a well-run purposeful program responsive to participants needs
32. Assesses program supplies and materials needed before implementing activities
33. Coordinates and helps supervise teaching staff and volunteers
34. Maintains written plans on a weekly basis
35. Assesses children's needs and developmental progress on an ongoing basis
36. Uses the results of assessment to plan activities
37. To maintain a commitment to professionalism
38. Promotes the center's philosophy and educational objectives
39. Support the center's code of ethical conduct
40. Engages ongoing staff development to improve personal and professional goals
41. Supports the professional growth and development of colleagues by sharing materials and information and providing helpful feedback and encouragement
42. Attends staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training provided by the center.

Required Job Qualifications:
  • Warm, supportive attitude toward children.
  • Be reliable.
  • Flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program.
  • Willing to accept supervision in order to improve performance.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be physically able to perform the job of an early childhood teacher.
  • Able to lift children and/or equipment up to 40lbs.
  • Able to stoop, bend, sit and stand for extended periods of time.
