Russ Davis Wholesale, an employee owned 65 year old company, has an openings for a full-time Food Safety Quality Assurance Lead Technician in our production facility located in Pueblo,CO. The Food Safety Quality Assurance Lead Technician is responsible to ensure food safety and quality compliance by monitoring and documenting required checks including chemical levels, product specification, labels, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), temperatures, and operational procedures throughout the entire production process.

2-4 years previous Food Safety and/or Quality Assurance experience in food industry.-
Associate degree in Food Science or related field preferred

Good written and verbal communication skills; must maintain professional relationship with internal and external contacts

Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Good organization, prioritization, multi-tasking and attention to detail skills.

Must have basic mathematical and literacy skills to read and document temperatures, weights, etc. of products and have a general understanding of weight relationships.

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Must be able to work weekends, holidays, day and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the conditions specified for 8 – 10-hour shifts.

Must be able to work in various work environments (i.e. refrigerated coolers, wet, etc.) on a frequent basis.

Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment background and drug screen.
- Conduct pre-operational and operational inspections daily to ensure a sanitary production environment.
-
Complete necessary paperwork and follow through with issues noted during pre-op and operational inspections to assure completion.
-
Monitor production floor, warehouse and coolers to ensure GMP’s are being followed.
-
Monitor operational cleaning by day sanitation for compliance to established SSOP’s. Document infractions and assure Corrective and Preventative action takes place in a timely manner.

Work with production to resolve any quality or safety issues.
-
Assure proper trace back is maintained through processing and WIP.
-
Verify materials needing HOLD status are put on HOLD and follow up when product is ready for release or disposal.

Follow GMP’s and conduct production observations to ensure GMP’s are being adhered to daily.

Assist in conducting shelf life analysis sampling; perform validation of product to specs on a routine basis.

Assist with customer complaint investigation.
-
Monitor and record wash water levels, assuring proper calibration.
-
Assure product specifications are adhere to and labeling is accurate on finished products.

Perform and coordinate all calibration checks, including but not limited to EP200, thermometers, scales to assure they are completed in accordance to written SOP’s.

Assure label accuracy for completeness and matching of top and bottom labels daily.
-
Monitor inbound ingredient and outbound products checks to assure proper recording of results.
-
Serve as the subject matter expert on the production floor for quality and food safety related issues for technicians and production personnel.
-
Provide feedback and corrective action recommendations to associates regarding quality/food safety and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) with courtesy and professionalism.

Conduct pre-operational and operational microbiological swabs as needed; coordinate with technicians to assure completion in accordance to the EM Schedule set by the microbiologist; complete SARF paperwork for laboratory to go with samples.

Oversee Allergen verification production change over swabs and assure processes are adhered to.

Complete HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), SQF (Safe Quality Food) and USDA (US Department of Agriculture) paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.

Review Daily paperwork completed by technicians to assure accuracy and completeness.

Assure and assist in maintaining appropriate FSQA coverage on the production floor.

Educate employees on Food Safety company requirements and assure GMP practices are followed by providing training as necessary.

Participate in weekly Food Safety audits of the facility.

Ensure proper slotting for finished product and complete a quality check of finished product(s); investigate product issues identified, review labels to identify any potential labeling issue and communicate necessary changes in a timely manner.

Respond to questions presented while on the floor regarding product quality, food safety, chemical safety, product specification or other quality related items.

Maintain order and safety of work environment.

May be responsible to assist with preparing samples for customers according to appropriate product specifications.

Assist QA Manager in developing, implementing and maintaining Food Safety and Quality programs that meet USDA, FDA, SQF and RDW requirements.

Report any food safety/quality issues to the QA Manager

Complete miscellaneous tasks and schedules as directed by the QA Manager
