Summary
The Equipment Operator is vital in the overall operation of the Pavement Preservation Team. Equipment Operators operate the machinery and equipment necessary for the day-to-day operations and application of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates construction and/or power equipment for use in asphalt paving
- Loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies
- Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor
- Cleans equipment
- Uses hand tools (brooms, shovels, and squeegees)
- Flagging and general labor as needed
- Follow all safety policies and practices
- All other duties as assigned
Work Environment
Work sites are outdoors and may require that work be done in adverse weather conditions. This position requires its responsibilities to be performed in potentially hazardous traffic conditions. Work conditions may involve exposure to hot materials, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, gases, and other substances used in a construction environment.
