Position Description:
Your Role:
As a Production Control Manager, you will manage the flow of materials from supply to delivery. In this position you will control the inventory of raw material, in-process, and finished parts (including pass-through parts). In your role, you will coordinate the production schedules to fulfill current and forecasted orders. In this role, you will review forecast and plant capacity to determine appropriate staffing and the use of overtime. As a Production Control Manager, you will plan, develop, and implement department objectives to improve production /financial results and generate management reports, assisting the management team to advance the company mission and objectives and to promote revenue, profitability and growth as an organization.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develops short-term, mid-term, and long-term capacity/resource planning based on annual sales plan and is able to identify gaps, proposes countermeasures, and make a strategic business recommendations.
- Manages the daily control system, which includes sales, material, labor, expenses, etc. Improve system effectiveness and the sharing of information.
- Supervises Production Control Specialists to assure and maintain positive, proactive relationship with each customer.
- Strategizes, develops, implements, and improves inventory control system for a better inventory accuracy.
- Manages inventory in the entire supply chain to maintain safety stock of raw materials, work-in-process, finished parts, and pass-through products.
- Plans and orders raw material for new products.
- Minimizes obsolete inventory and deadstock of products that are building/phasing out.
- Develops, trains, reviews, and updates standardize work for production control group members.
- Calculates factors such as @types and quantities of items produced, materials used, amount of scrap, frequency of defects, and worker and department production rates.
- Ensures adequate inventory of materials and products in accord with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy.
- Based on customer order, optimizes production scheduling and shopfloor layout in cooperation with production manager.
- Monitors and promptly communicates fluctuations in customer order to sales and production and updates production plan and manpower/required hour needs accordingly.
- Develops system and generates reports on volume of production, consumption of raw material, quality control, inventory, and other aspects of production.
- After analysis of production data, point out production problems as compared to the plan and report problems.
- Categorize by department the purchase order data by computer and make comparison of dollar amount to financial plan for each department.
- Develops skills and abilities of all production control employees to be able to understand the principles and use the Toyota Production System.
Reporting Relationships:
In this position you will report to the General Manager of production.
Position Requirements:
About You:
- 7 years’ experience in Materials, Inventory, or Operations Management
- 5 years in a managerial role
- Experience in automotive industry a plus
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Ability to work with basic math including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages to practical situations.
