JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE:

The Strategic Project Manager/Associate Manager is responsible for the broad set of activities required to drive and complete strategic product development and launch initiatives for their assigned product line(s). The position project manages all strategic initiatives which are part of the product platform's 5-year strategic plan coordinating across functions and ensuring timely and successful completion of the projects. This position is an integral part of the larger Product Management team and reports to the Director of Project Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategic Initiatives Execution
    • Lead strategic projects to support the growth and profitability of Rust-Oleum with goal to deliver 10% CAGR or 3X market pace (whichever is greater) for assigned product line(s)
    • Manage and execute small and medium strategic projects envisaged in the 3-5 year strategic platform plan including inorganic portfolio expansion
    • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track the progress of the initiatives
    • Plan schedule and budget, set deadlines, monitor quality and progress, and manage budgets
    • Track P&L impact during execution
    • Build partnerships and collaboration with cross-functional teams including Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing to ensure timely execution of projects
    • Communicate project results, risks, and issues
    • Perform risk management analysis to mitigate risks
    • Manage the stage gate system
  • New Product Introduction
    • Drive the execution of the new product introduction envisaged in the portfolio evolution plan
    • Own the stage gated new product development process focused on bringing innovative products to the market in a timely manner
    • Coordinate with Product Management and Marketing colleagues to create launch plans around marketing, branding and channel usage
    • Work closely with R&D, Supply Chain and Operations on technical and human resource allocation necessary for timely new product development
    • Create and maintain a comprehensive documentation of the complete process
    • Track project costs in order to meet budget and evaluate the changes in ROI due to changes in project scope or timeline
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: 4-year BS degree in business, engineering, or related field
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in project management and operations functions
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus
  • Analytic and strategic thinking skills, with ability to digest complex information and make data-driven decisions
  • Passionate problem solver and creative thinker, with ability to pitch new ideas and be open to feedback
  • Dynamic and agile: Ability to think in a creative and strategic way but are adept at delivering operationally to ensure tasks are followed through to completion. Ability to work efficiently and flexibly to deliver results
  • Strong decision making and prioritization skills, especially when multiple trade-offs are involved, and faster decisions are required
  • Empathy and good listening skills to understand the needs/pain points of your customers/ stakeholders
  • Excellent ability to effectively facilitate requirement gathering/elicitation sessions with senior business leaders/ stakeholders
