RWC, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high speed automated assembly and welding equipment in Bay City, MI is looking for an experienced Controls Project Leader - Electrical.

Responsible for designing a complete electrical package including hardware, drawings and required software for handling assembly, material working and welding machines. Confers with Mechanical, Electrical and Fluid Power Engineers to interpret design concepts, determines nature and type of required detailed drawings and coordinates work with other employees.
Essential Functions:
- Designs and/or coordinates complex machine design to obtain the most cost effective and electrical sound design possible in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Confers with vendors for the purpose of purchasing quality equipment within the quoted cost limitations.
- Confers with customers to acquire design approval.
- Reviews individual designs with Project Management, Designer, Applications Engineer, Manufacturing and customers.
- Assists the Project Manager in establishing and updating the Engineering Planning System for assigned projects weekly.
- Schedules technical review meetings of their projects. Presents the designs for review and comment, and resolves any problems before releasing for manufacturing.
- Works closely with outside design sources and prepares all reference material and specifications for line up meetings and reviews.
- Assists Manufacturing Department with any problems that occur during assembly. Works very closely with the test department & often assists/supplements the test workforce.
- Provides input and suggestions to the Manager of Controls Engineering on internal and external performance and improvement.
- Assists in establishing and updating Engineering Standards.
- Knowledgeable and compliant with the company’s ISO-9001 standards and operating procedure.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum of Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or five years of experience required in the Electrical Engineering field. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of algebra, trigonometry, Electrical drawing and Electrical Engineering.
- Strong analytical skills necessary to resolve problems that arise during the design, assembly and test of equipment.
- Extensive computer skills and the ability to adapt to all applicable software. Knowledge of communication protocols and networking motion control and robotics experience is desired.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to effectively interact with all management levels, customers, vendors and other employees.
- Organizational skills to work on several complex projects simultaneously in order to meet the required quoting requirements.
- Must be able to work in a teamwork environment.
Working Conditions:
- Normal drafting room environment with little or no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, etc.
- Exposure to a manufacturing process with slightly higher noise and dust levels.
- Occasional international and domestic travel, including ground and air travel.
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to Manager of Controls Engineering.
