Job Summary:
The Patient Service Representative (PSR) works with the practice physicians, manager, and support staff to ensure patient satisfaction and efficient operations. PSRs prepare for patient visits, triage practice calls, schedules patient appointments, and performs routine clerical tasks. The PSR acts as a practice ambassador contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy.
Essential Functions:
- Performs patient check-in and check-out functions
- Answers routine questions in person and over the telephone
- Performs basic clerical functions such as copying, scanning, faxing, sorting and distributing mail
- Creates and maintains health record information, files and organizes as needed
- Coordinates with insurance providers and handles pre-authorizations/certifications as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required within one (1) year of hire. Candidates who do not possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent at time of hire will be provided the opportunity to enroll in a GED/HSEA program as a condition of employment. New hires will be provided one (1) year from date of hire to successfully complete a GED program and obtain their HSEA. *
- Relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous medical receptionist experience or background in general office, preferred
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of patient satisfaction and safety
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Attention to accuracy and detail
- Able to multitask and work under pressure
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record (EMR) systems, preferred

Hours*:
Scheduled Hours: 40 hours/week, may vary as per practice needs.
Monday: 8:30am-5pm, 8:45am-5:15pm, 9am-close
Tuesday: 8:30am-5pm, 8:45am-5:15pm, 9am-close
Wednesday: 8:30am-5pm, 8:45am-5:15pm, 9am-close
Thursday: 8:30am-5pm, 8:45am-5:15pm, 9am-close
Friday: 8:30am-5pm, 8:45am-5:15pm, 9am-close
*Hours are subject to change as business needs require. Evening pay shift differential available for any regularly scheduled hours, Monday Friday, after 5:00pm. Weekend pay shift differential available.
