Essential Functions:
- Responsible for providing technical advice or assistance within the department during on and off hours,
- Develops, establishes and implements specific written policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director and consistent with legal, institutional, and/or professional guidelines for the Laboratory,
- Educates staff regarding scope and proper use of policies as a reference,
- Assures compliance with all Federal CLIA 88, JCAHO, and N.J.
State regulations regarding the supervision of the Phlebotomy section,
- Responsible for providing technical advice or assistance within the department during on and off hours,
- Develops, establishes and implements specific written policies and procedures in conjunction with the Director and consistent with legal, institutional, and/or professional guidelines for the Laboratory,
- Educates staff regarding scope and proper use of policies as a reference,
- Coordinates In-Hospital Cholesterol Screening,
- Assists in coordinating outside Health Screening events,
- Maintains and trouble shoots glucose meters and Clinitek interface hospital wide,
- Enters and maintains yearly competency records for all employees,
- Coordinates with nursing staff ,Train the Trainers for yearly Re-certification Testing,
- Assists the POTC team leader in the day-to-day operations of POCT in addition with training of the phlebotomists, Urine HCG Pregnancy, Rapid Strep-A, Chem, U/A using The Clinitek Status Analyzer, and Glucose Meter,
- Advises Director regarding daily operations, budget preparation, and equipment evaluation, Participates in special projects as requested by the Pathologists and Laboratory Director,
- Motivates fellow employees to perform their duties in the most ethical and efficient manner,
- Acts as role model to other staff members,
- Participates on lab based and hospital committees for performance improvement process of quality and customer service,
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on employee retention and engagement,
- Responsible for employee recognition and discipline,
- Supervises general laboratory on assigned weekends
- Maintains employee payroll in ADP and approval/denial of PTO for Phlebotomy Staff,
- Ability to coordinate phlebotomist's, Central, and send outs schedules through resourceful and creative thinking to accommodate patients need, including emergency coverage,
- Completes monthly schedule by 10 th of prior month,
- Coordinates meeting with Manager to review prior to posting,
- Posting of this schedule including Open Shift Log completed and posted by 15 th of prior month,
- Responsible for initial and six month direct observations for all new hires,
- Direct observations for all employees' performance completed twice per year,
- Review with Manager, Director, any areas of concern,
- Responsible to investigate and reply to any Verges opened for Phlebotomy Department,
- Documented professional development and corrective action plan provided to Manager, Director, and All employee discipline must be reviewed and witnessed,
- Maintain Media Lab account and take on any additional Professional Development
- courses RWJ offers to improve skill set and employee engagement
- Other POCT duties,
- Training, certifying and recertifying nursing staff,
- Collecting and reviewing Temp logs from performing locations,
- Perform other duties and job assignments as requested,
