What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Manager position at RWTLCS?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Fleet Manager is responsible for all communication and management of trucks and drivers assigned to their board. All duties and responsibilities are aligned with Production, Retention, On-Time Service and Safety.
Maintain accurate driver information in TMS e.g. ETA’s, PTA’s, RDO’s, Time Off Requests, etc.
Check-call EVERY truck multiple times per day to assist with compliance in all aspects of Production, Retention, On-Time Service and with Safety being our first priority
Develop positive rapport and relationships with drivers through effective satellite and verbal communication
Coach drivers and help them manage their time to continually improve daily and weekly mileage and service performance
Continually be aware of and interact positively and professionally with drivers
Communicate shop needs to maintenance in a timely manner with diligent follow-up
Identify and resolve swaps needed on board
Act as the voice of the driver and interact professionally with Load Planners and Customer Service Representatives
Communicate and work as a team player with all departments e.g. Maintenance, Safety, Recruiting, etc.
Provide prompt notification to Load Planners and Customer Service Representatives as issues arise
Assist other driver managers with swaps needed and be able to cover for them in absence.
Maintain compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures
Work closely with safety and counsel drivers as needed regarding HOS and safety violations
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, colleagues and managers
Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
1-2 years of dispatch / driver management experience preferred
Physical Requirements:
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
