Summary
Ryder’s Legal Department delivers exceptional, strategic, and cost-effective legal advice and solutions while minimizing legal risks, proactively supporting Ryder’s business operations, driving continuous improvement of the Company’s legal and business processes, and developing effective risk mitigation strategies. The Law Clerk position supports the Legal Department in its mission. This is a hybrid position and temporary in nature.
Essential Functions
At Ryder, you will make a difference by:
- Researching legal issues.
- Drafting and revising agreements.
- Attending drafting and negotiation sessions.
- Responding to subpoenas.
- Assisting with special projects, including projects to improve operations and reduce legal risk.
- Attending company meetings with business and HR partners.
- Drafting and publishing legal articles and other materials
- Having opportunities to gain exposure in other desired areas of law, including transactions, litigation, and labor and employment.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Preference for experience showing leadership capabilities
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)Personal initiative, ability to present and effectively interact with all levels of management and customers
- Demonstrates analytical skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to support multiple projects
- Ability to display confidence in learning new systems and processes quickly and establishing a strong customer rapport
- Strong PC skills (Windows, MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel) intermediate required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required Currently enrolled toward a degree
- At least one (1) year of law school at an accredited top tier law school and must be working toward a degree in law.
- Strong PC skills (Windows, MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel) intermediate required
Additional qualifications that would be helpful include:
- Fluency in French and/or Spanish.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $25 an hour.
