Position Description
The Manager Maintenance Training will be responsible for the day to day management of approximately 13 to 15 Managers Field Training. Managing the MFTs to identify, schedule, communicate, coordinate, track, record and report the maintenance technical training of approximately 2,400 Ryder technicians, 750 Service island employees and 300 Customer Service Coordinators as well as Maintenance Management for assigned areas. This position is responsible for ensuring delivery of world class training by technician/ SE/ CSC; shift; shop and Business Unit using the most appropriate and effective training and delivery methods. To leverage the TOPS Plan system as one resource to assist in accomplishing this.

Requirements
- Bachelor' Degree or equivalent work experience
- Five years experience in the transportation industry
- Minimum of three years experience in management
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with P&L, forecasting and budget controls preferred
- This individual should possess experience in shop operations at all levels form service island to top level supervision
- Must be able to communicate with all levels of workforce up to and including president
- Should have excellent customer service, communication (written and verbal), organizational and technical skills
- Participation in any of the following Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Society of Automotive Engineers (ASE), The Maintenance Council (TMC), American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) are a plus
Responsibilities
- Ensuring communication of the TOPS Plan, scheduling and performance monthly with all parties
- To monitor course completions, tracking and recording results in the LMS system
- Schedule and lead monthly reviews to ensure each MFT is on track and meeting goals and objectives
- Address and communicate performance concerns in a timely manner with Director Maintenance Training
- Ensure timely follow up and completion of qualifications within 90 days after training sessions have been completed
- To monitor compliance and ensure the percentage of completions do not exceed 3% variance at any time
- Leverage available resources both internally and externally to maintain the desired parameters
- Current methodology utilizes training through the assigned Managers Field Training, vendors and various web-based methods
- This position is encouraged to seek alternative methods and opportunities that would enhance the number of classes and/or quality
- Continuously look for opportunities to streamline courses and qualifications
- Much of the training leads to Qualification in key subject areas
- The focus is on training our technicians in areas that improve repair performance, productivity, quality, reduction in breakdowns, reduced out of service levels lower overall maintenance costs, improve reliability and customer satisfaction
- This position also is actively involved in the development of qualification programs that are specific to Ryder, i.e. Preventive Maintenance, A/C, Brake air and hydraulic, Tire/Wheel and Laser Alignment. Also supports training initiatives for Ryder diagnostic tools such as the SBT III Tool and related support programs
- Service Island Training, infoCenter and Shop Management System support
- The position and department must insure Ryder is in compliance with Federal mandates on all aspects of our training program, with specific attention to the frequent changes in regulations, specifically within Preventive Maintenance, brakes (air and hydraulic) and Federal Annual Inspections
- This involves working with the Department of Transportation
- Other areas of compliance are working on Air Conditioning (cab air) and Refrigeration (trailer) where EPA 608 and 609 Certifications are required
- Monitor and manage process for delivery by MFTs and vendors
- Additional responsibilities include working closely with the FMCI and MQA Groups to provide support and assistance when appropriate
- To provide feedback and opportunities as identified during training sessions
- To work and communicate with peers and Director of Maintenance Training daily on areas such as performance, opportunities, future initiatives, industry changes, and special projects, as assigned
