JOB DESCRIPTION
-The Nurse Coordinator is part of a team that is transforming cancer care while being committed to the quality of the patient experience. The Stanford Cutaneous Oncology Program includes specialists from a broad range of disciplines that participate in a multi-specialty approach to the care of patients. Program physicians are leaders in their subspecialty fields and have access to the most advanced technologies and therapies available.
-We are searching for a nurse coordinator to join our Cutaneous Oncology team. Cutaneous Oncology is a unique group of dermatologists, medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, APPs and nurses who treat cancer patients with skin toxicity secondary to chemotherapy or other cancer-related care, those undergoing radiation treatment who experience radiation dermatitis or who have undergone a bone marrow transplant and are experiencing skin side effects, any patient who necessitates dermatologic care within the Cancer Center, and those with a primary skin cancer diagnosis.
-The Nurse Coordinator will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with nationally recognized dermatologists, surgical oncologists and medical oncologists who are experts in the field. This role shares accountability and responsibility for establishing a trusting, therapeutic relationship with the patient and their families. The nurse coordinator will be responsible for responding to the needs, values, and preferences of the patient through care coordination and symptom management. The Nurse Coordinator will communicate daily with other members of the cancer care team, including the patient’s primary oncologist, clinical trials coordinators, and other providers involved in their care.
-Provides age-specific, quality, patient-centered care to all patients using the nursing process and standards of nursing practice with sensitivity and respect for the diversity of the human experience
-Expedites appropriate care and treatment, using critical reasoning and astute clinical judgment especially given the patient may present with complex problems or potentially life-threatening conditions
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited academic institution.
-RN - Registered Nurse
-BLS - Basic Life Support
-2 years experience as registered nurse, with a preference for candidates who have prior clinical experience in dermatology or oncology
-Demonstrated clinical competence and advanced knowledge in area of practice require
-Demonstrated skills in teaching, communication, problem-solving, and project development/management required
-Recent experience as charge nurse or equivalent management skills preferred
-One or more years experience in ambulatory care preferred
