Summary
The Buyer Assistant is responsible for supporting Buyers in the everyday functions related to inventory control, product turns, order fill rates, and various routine functions related to purchasing.
Essential Functions
- Verify all purchase orders.
- Maintain vendor details and files.
- Complete scheduled tasks in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintenance of an acceptable level of customer order fill rate.
- Assist in controlling inventory levels and maximizing inventory turns
- Verify all purchase orders to the broker or manufacturer (EDI or EMAIL).
- Verify product receiving and problem solve related issues.
- Assist with bill-backs.
Competencies
- Microsoft Office software and main frame computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Must have well-developed interpersonal skills to promote harmonious relationships with staff, peers, and supervisors.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. The schedule for this position will be 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. There is some room for a variance on times, but a set schedule must be worked each week.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- One year or more experience and/or training in wholesale/retail sale of consumer products; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Post-secondary education preferred.
