What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator position at S&G Materials?
S&G Materials is looking for a reliable, safety conscious Equipment Operator.
- Primary on the job duties include, but are not limited to safely operating equipment, inspect,
Maintain/clean equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with all MSHA regulations and manufacturer recommendations. Equipment includes:
♦ End loader
♦ Dredges
♦ Rock crushers
♦ Excavators
♦ Dozers
♦ Articulated dump trucks
♦ Skid loaders
♦ Road grader
♦ Lifts and rock washing equipment
♦ Tractor
♦ Mower and other lawn maintenance equipment
- Performs shift inspections in accordance with MSHA regulations
- May run or assist in running the sand classifiers
- Works with Plant Superintendent to support company maintenance programs: reports vehicle maintenance issues and vehicle requirements
- Encourages the timely communication with co-workers and customers
- Performs daily housekeeping functions: cleaning shop, breakrooms, and restroom areas, sweeping floors, taking care of trash, and putting tools away

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Iowa driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL Class A is a plus)
- Basic knowledge of mechanical principles & safe work practices
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical
- The ability to read, write, and speak English
- Minimum 2 (two) year’s work experience
- At least 18 year of age
- Must be able to obtain IDOT certifications for materials sampling and testing
- Ability to work 40-55 hours per week, including Saturday mornings

- Regular lifting up to 80 lbs
- Occasional twisting, pulling, climbing, and carrying heavy objects up to 20 % of the time
- Standing and/or walking up to 10 hours a day
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including hot and cold up to 10 hours a day
- Ability to work from level over 4 feet from the ground
