Are you a recent graduate seeking a challenging opportunity with a firm committed to our employees and providing excellence? S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Staff Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in Atlanta, Georgia.
About The Role:
As a Geotechnical Staff Engineer at S&ME, you are essential to our exploration and drilling operations, supporting infrastructure-building for diverse projects like roadways, hi-rise structures, and nuclear power plants. Under the guidance of a Licensed Engineer, you deliver engineering solutions and recommendations, ensuring project success through effective client interaction and technical expertise. Your role involves coordinating field operations, collecting and logging soil samples, conducting soil testing and analysis, and preparing draft reports. Your contributions influence the success of projects ranging from wood-framed buildings to massive distribution centers, and you serve as a vital technical resource for clients, construction personnel, and subcontractors.
About You:
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Mining, or a related field; or the ability to obtain within 6 months
- You have 0-2 years of professional experience
- You have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, with the ability to learn commercial software applications.
- You have an Engineering Intern (EIT) certification, a plus
Are You Willing and Able to:
Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provide Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Traveling out-of-town (may include overnight) for assignments as necessary.
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary.
