JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Bid Analyst Dept: Bids
Reports to: Bid Manager Grade: G-8
Summary of Responsibilities:
Processes bids accurately and on a timely basis. Use extensive knowledge of bidding to help develop efficiencies within the department.
Primary Duties:
1. Analyze, prepare, and respond to bids in accurate and timely manner meeting customer’s required deadlines. Reports any problems or irregularities to Bid Manager.
2. Retrieve Bid/Contract/Quote opportunities from all sources (email, fax, and mail) and log in to system assigning correct customer number and analyst.
3. Completes bid tab analyses tracking won and lost bids and enter into system.
4. Submit required sales reports as required on assigned bids.
5. Maintain data integrity within area of responsibility.
6. Works with Bid Manager to develop effective computerized reporting system.
7. Provides product recommendations to Merchandising Mgr. based on bid requests.
8. Completes any other special project as may be assigned by Bid Manager.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree plus experience with pricing and statistics
- Strong product knowledge of Education/Recreation Products and/or Market
- Knowledge of our competitors and their product lines helpful
- Familiar with legalities of contracts helpful
- Knowledge of customer accounts; knowledge of order processing helpful
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
- Accurate mathematical and analytical skills needed. Strong computer and spreadsheet proficiency required.
- Effective communication skills are a must.
- Attention to detail a must.
Key Measurements:
- Ability to increase the number of bids and contract responses year over year.
- Increase the number of items per bid won while keeping gross profit within prescribed levels.
