IDEAL CANDIDATE
The perfect candidate for the on-call event duty job will be ready to work flexible hours, follow instructions, work independently, meet client needs during events, and set up, operate, and take down various types of Audio-Visual equipment. They should also be hardworking and dependable.BASIC FUNCTION
Set- up, monitor and break down events in the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

- Set up furniture, microphones, conference phones; etc.;
- Put out signage;
- Greet clients,
- Connect lap-tops to projectors;
- Coordinate vendor set ups;
- Re-stock paper products in restrooms;
- Ensure vendors and clients are complying with Galleria policies;
- Assist at the end of the events with stacking chairs and putting chair covers on, setting out additional tables & chairs;
- Take notes during the events;
- Ensure caterers clean their areas and remove garbage;
- Secure the Galleria and library at the end of events;
- Respond quickly to emails and send follow-up reports, and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
- Basic principles and techniques in overseeing a variety of events;
Ability to:
- Work cooperatively with others;
- Work with vendors during event;
- Operate a variety of audiovisual equipment, identifying event problems and handling them efficiently;
- Communicate Galleria policies and procedures to existing and prospective clients;
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions;
- Ability to work independently;
- Resolve conflicts with tact and diplomacy;
- Read, write and communicate in English.
EXPERIENCE
Six months experience overseeing various event functions for a banquet hall, conference center, or other public use facility.

The hours will vary between less than 10 to 40 hours in a two week pay period and are not guaranteed. This is limited to on-call assignments that do not exceed 1040 hours per year.
The on call position is scheduled a month at a time but is adjusted accordingly as events are booked and/or cancelled. The position requires flexibility events begin as early as 7 AM and end as late as midnight. Events are scheduled seven days per week.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL ABILITIES
- Mobility - Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time while operating a keyboard; occasional movement about the inside of the office to access file cabinets, books, office machinery, etc.;
- Move - Occasional movement of items weighing 10 pounds or more;
- Perception - Ability to observe details at close range; frequent need for use of color perception, reading and/or close-up work;
- Communication - Constant communication in person and on the telephone; occasionally speaking in front of large groups of people;
- Special Requirements - Requires occasional weekend or evening work, including on-call during weekend and nights for emergencies;
- Emotional/Psychological - Constant concentration, decision-making and public contact; ability to exercise sound judgment, especially under stressful situations; and working alone; and
- Environmental Conditions - Occasional exposure to noise.
