What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maritime Operations position at Safe Harbor Marinas?
The Dockhands at Boat Rental include qualified and authorized employees that prepare and operate vessels under direction from the Rental Manager. Vessels from 22' to 84', including houseboats and pontoon boats are included in the fleet. Ideal candidate will be experienced with boats, be mechanically inclined, and must be emphatic about delivering on a deadline.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate vessels for relocation, repair, tow, passenger movement or other miscellaneous rental operations
- Ensure passenger safety and provide customer service
- Assist in and/or conduct vessel operations and maintenance
- Monitor the vessels systems-fresh water, generator, sanitation systems, engines, electrical and 12 volt systems
- Available to work overtime when required
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
- Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years marina experience preferred
- Prior rental experience a plus
- Safe Boater's Training Required, where applicable
- Ability to work safely around water
- Must be able to swim
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and clean driving record
- Knowledge of Lake Cumberland is a plus
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
