General Summary:
The Road Home program, an 18-month demonstration project intended to address the holistic needs of people returning to Cook County from incarceration. The Road Home part-time Career Coach will work on a contractual basis to implement and deliver follow-up and supportive services to those previously enrolled in the program. The Career Coach is responsible for updating case notes and services for former Road Home participants, The Career Coach will also assist with delivering employment preparation and job coaching to clients in addition to providing internal and external referrals for education, employment and supports. The Career Coach will report to the Sr. Director of Contract Management and Implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Interface and Service
- Identify client’s suitability and eligibility for services; and convey results to client in alignment with WIOA and ASCEND model.
- Conduct contacts, registrations and assesses client’s needs and barriers to employment.
- In collaboration with the overall client services’ team, provide courteous customer service that is client-centered and in adherence to all agency policy and procedures.
- Maintain professional and legal relationships with clients and staff and external partners by the standards of Safer Foundation policies.
- Work one-on-one with clients to address issues that arise during the program that threaten employability and refer to appropriate services as needed.
- Maintain client engagement and follow-up through a variety of means: phone calls, email, social media, etc.
Stakeholder Outreach and Recruitment:
- Represent Safer at outreach events.
Tracking, Document, and Reporting:
- Maintain ongoing audit ready case files.
- Maintain relevant and timely data entry in Salesforce (Birdseye) and Career Connect database systems daily and/or reports as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to write and communicate clearly and effectively present information in individual, small and large group settings.
- Knowledge of the employment barriers people with criminal records.
- Practical and critical thinking skills for servicing challenging and/or resistant clients.
- Proficiency in word, excel and power point.
Education and Experience:
- Pursuing a degree in a related discipline or a minimum of 2 years experience is preferred.
