Sagis is looking for a Cytotechnologist to work Full-time in our Casper, Wyoming laboratory.
Job Duties and Requirements:
Process cytology specimens
Prepare and stain cytology slides for GYN and non-GYN specimens
Document specimens by verifying patients’ and specimens’ information; Provide patient clinical data or microscopic findings to assist pathologists in the preparation of pathology reports
Submit slides with abnormal cell structures to pathologists for further examination
Examine specimens, using microscopes, to evaluate specimen quality
Maintain effective laboratory operations by adhering to standards of specimen collection, preparation, or laboratory safety
Prepare cell samples by applying special staining techniques, such as chromosomal staining, differentiate cells or cell components
Assists in fine needle aspiration procedures and provides an adequacy statement for the physician performing the procedure
Staining of slides, microscopic evaluation of slides, and preparing sample for transport
Maintains a clean laboratory environment
Assists manager with preparations for accreditation inspections
Maintains adequate inventory of consumable supplies. Notifies the laboratory manager of anticipated shortages, overages, and backorders.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, or a related life sciences field, from an accredited university
2 years in screening gyn and non-gyn cytology required
Graduated from an Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) accredited school of cytotechnology, or other organization approved by Health and Human Services (HHS)
Certified in cytotechnology by a certification agency approved by HHS (eg, American Society of Clinical Pathology)
At least three years of full-time experience as a cytotechnologist within the preceding 10 years preferred
