What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Analyst position at Sail Internet?
The Geospatial Data Analyst will be responsible for gathering data and creating maps to effectively target where we market our internet service. They gather data on consumer demographics, preferences, needs and buying habits. They will determine new markets for us to expand to and create maps of specific addresses we should target. Our ideal candidate is someone with experience working with address verification tools, rooftop geocoding information, and tagging as it pertains to lead qualification.
The Geospatial Data Analyst will be adept with collecting data from various data tools (i.e., DataTree, Data Axle, Reonomy, etc). They will also collect information using a variety of methods like surveys, questionnaires and online research to determine our position and areas to target. They will be proficient in visualizing data for target areas into maps using mapping tools (i.e., BatchGeo, Google Earth Pro, etc) that can be used for geo and radius targeting in digital and polygons for automated website responses.
In addition to being an outstanding communicator, the Geospatial Data Analyst will also demonstrate excellent interpersonal and analytical skills to interpret data and forecast trends. They are a talented individual that thrives on the excitement of a fast-paced, growing, startup business in the wireless internet industry. They are capable of handling multiple projects at once and adapts well to change and high-pressure deadlines.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares visual maps (using mapping tools) of data to create specific geo & radius micro targeting areas for digital ads and automated website responses.
- Research open source geospatial basemap data sets and evaluate for quality.
- Create viewshed maps in Google Earth Pro.
- Create service area maps.
- Proactively identify target markets to ensure cost effective marketing spend.
- Devise and evaluate methods for collecting data such as surveys, questionnaires and opinion polls.
- Use mapping tools and GIS experience to continually improve mapping for accuracy and edits.
- Gather data on consumers, businesses, competitors and market conditions to ensure successful targeting.
- Contributes to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed.
- Utilizes strong analytical ability to measure effectiveness of marketing programs and strategies.
- Works with cross-functional teams like Sales and Engineering to prepare roadmap forecast of target growth areas and visualizes with mapping software to show expansion plan.
- Convert complex data findings into understandable graphs, tables and infographics.
- Prepare reports and present results to management.
- Conducts quarterly competitive assessment to evolve and ensure we are well positioned on an ongoing basis.
- Troubleshooting of all processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS/MS degree in market research or a related field.
- 3 years’ experience working in mapping and marketing.
- Strong understanding of GIS informational mapping and Rooftop Geocoding technology.
- Understanding of address and GIS verification tools.
- Solid knowledge of various mapping tools like Google Earth Pro, Batchgeo and AmigoCloud.
- Outstanding quantitative skill set.
- Detail oriented for precise data mapping.
- Strong analytical mindset and data-driven, critical thinking skills.
- WISP or service related industry experience preferred.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
