POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the building principal plans and provides for appropriate services for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of all students. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community. Develop, select and modify guidance lessons and materials to meet the needs of all students.
ESSNETIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION: – the following duties reflect the types of work this position requires with or without reasonable accommodations.
RESPONSIBILITES:
· Advises and counsels students regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional problems.
· Remains universally accessible and makes an effort to know every student for whom they are responsible.
· Manage crises.
· Participate in CST, IST meetings, and parent/teacher conferences when necessary.
· Provides individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding academic matters.
· Teaches guidance classes and provides guidance counseling to students through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to convey educational, social, and important school information, and offers workshops/seminars for parents.
· Consults, facilitates, and maintains communication with parents, teachers, administrators, and pertinent agents on specific student and parent academic and educational matters including academic modifications and/or accommodations.
· Provides feedback and recommends appropriate action and solutions to individual student’s academic and educational needs and abilities.
· Assists students/parents in understanding school policies and procedures.
· Provides brief counseling to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately refers students to behavioral health specialists.
· Communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student supports.
· Supports and attends appropriate student activities and events.

PRINCIPAL ASSIGNMENTS:
· Attends faculty meetings, department chair meetings, SEL meetings once a week, and other administrative meetings as requested
· Reviews emergency drills and procedures with students
· Completes reports and surveys as requested and submits budget request to principal annually
· Performs responsibilities with integrity, honoring confidences and loyalties ascribed to and required of a faculty position
· Other duties as requested by principal
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & LISCENSING REQUIREMENTS:
· Master’s Degree in Counseling/Guidance, Education, or Social Work
· Minimum of 1 year of school counseling or teaching experience
· Understanding and familiarity with computer applications and word processing functions
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Ability to work with students and maintain a high level of patience while meeting their individual educational needs
· Ability to be a team player
· Forward thinker that looks for continuous improvement, creative approaches to teaching techniques

ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The functions of this position usually are performed standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, light lifting, walking, carrying and other movements. Tasks involve working on a computer keyboard, computer software applications, involve extensive wrist, and hand movement. All individuals in this position are required to be able to perform these tasks without significant risk of injury to themselves or others, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the essential functions listed above.
