All About You
Summary Under administrative direction, the Drum Line Director is responsible for the development, oversight, and management of all aspects of the drum line for Athletics. The Director leads the following efforts for the drum line: recruitment of qualified student-athletes with a commitment to success; compliance with NCAA, Atlantic 10, and university rules and regulations; budget management and requests; and organizing and directing the drum line at athletic events. The Director organizes and conducts all practice sessions and games; provides one-on-one instruction when needed; and oversees scheduling to ensure a great atmosphere is provided by the drum line at athletic contests. The Drum Line Director will assist with the SLU Pep Band if needed.
Job Responsibilities
* Coordinates the daily organization and overall administration of the Athletics Drum Line
* Schedules and conducts all practices and athletic events
* Responsible for NCAA, A-10, and University compliance as related to the Drum Line
* Monitors budget and finances for the program and makes necessary requests
* Organizes and conducts all practice sessions; provides one-on-one instruction; oversees all scheduling
* Responsible for recruitment
* Performs other duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Prior band playing and directing experience required
* Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner
* Excellent communication skills required for working with diverse groups
* Strong written communication skills; excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving student-athletes
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree; supplemented with five (5) years of related experience; previous band playing and directing experience required; ability to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends.
