Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood is seeking a 35 hour/week office manager to coordinate daily operations in a busy church office. Applicant must be proficient in Mircosoft Office including Word, Power Point, Publisher; a familiarity with church operations; have excellent communication skills; and be detail-oriented. Ability to multi-task, be self-directed, and have a professional work ethic.

As Office Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all operational activities at Salem Lutheran Church. This includes preparing for weekly/seasonal services, organizing church programs & events, ensuring policies & procedures are fully compliant and enforced, managing the church office, and supporting all who come together with Salem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare materials for weekly/seasonal services including bulletins, sign-up sheets, worship services on PowerPoint, etc.
- Serve as initial point of contact for church members, visitors, weddings, funerals, etc.
- Maintain the Church calendar
- Prepare and distribute Church communications including the weekly/monthly newsletters, welcome letters, prayer lists, etc. Consolidate input from congregation and distribute accordingly.
- Prepare ads and news releases for Church services and activities
- Provide support for staff, Pastor(s), Church Council, Outreach Governing Board, and various committees
- Facilitate building repairs/updates when needed; monitor entrances and building security.
- Ensure requirements are met for any bookings or church events
- Manage the church office including handling phone calls, mail, ordering supplies
- Manage and develop administrative systems within the church office
- Oversee service contracts including the cleaning company, copier, postal service, etc.
- Manage the church database
- Manage budget for office supplies and worship
- Oversee the coordination of the church schedule including staff holidays
Required experience/attributes for this role:
- Proven ability to build and direct teams
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for a variety of audiences - church members, volunteers, community partners and key stakeholders
- Advanced MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, and a willingness to learn relevant IT programs.
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively and manage own workload and calendar
- A strategic mindset, able to assess various possible options before deciding on a preferred course of action
- Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to listen well and a kind and considerate attitude towards other team and church members
- High attention to and care for details across all tasks and projects
