Salem United Church of Christ, located at 302 South Main Street in Wanatah, Indiana, is prayerfully seeking a pastor.

Our Church mission is to grow while maintaining the traditions that have become the cornerstone of our reputation. Salem UCC has been a Wanatah institution for 150 years, and your leadership is needed to ensure that remains the case.

Historically, services are performed Sunday mornings and additional days as holidays and events necessitate.

We are offering a competitive salary, use of the parsonage directly across from the church, and the support and love of a kind, enthusiastic, and appreciative congregation. The home features four bedrooms, an attached two-car garage, and a yard large enough for children to play, making it a beautiful fit for a family.

The small town of Wanatah offers the best of both worlds. Ideally situated in Northwest Indiana, Wanatah is driving distance from Chicago, Valparaiso, Michigan City, and the Indiana Dunes National Park. Residents have the advantages of living in a quiet, rural, safe environment, and the opportunity to explore city life when the desire strikes.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership of our congregation in worship on Sundays, special services, and other times desired by the current pastor and/or church council.
• Active within our community to not only be a help but to foster congregation growth and weekly attendance.
• Desire to visit the sick and shut-ins and call upon inactive members.
• Promotion and support of our members, organizations, and our church's goodwill throughout the community.
• Conducting outreach programs to youth and other local organizations to grow our membership.

Qualifications:

• We are seeking a settled Pastor: a called position intended for longer-term ministry.
• Friendly, outgoing, energetic, and organized are some of the traits we are looking for along with a motivational speaker and caring soul.

• Compensation Level: We can be flexible for the right fit candidate. Anywhere from part- to full-time is acceptable by our membership.
