Headquartered in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, We have opened a new office in Oakland, California to engineer products integrating Salient's proprietary zinc-ion batteries. Our zinc-ion batteries are perfect for the residential stationary storage application and compete with lithium ions energy density while exceeding li-ion on cost, material availability, and safety.
We are looking for a talented electrical/electronics engineer to lead the design and engineering of our battery management systems, controllers, and power electronics. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the responsibility of taking new products from idea, through design and prototyping. You should be extremely comfortable working in a hands-on environment and most importantly have a curiosity to learn and experiment freely. .
Responsibilities:
- Design and prototype PCB's and hardware for control systems inside a diverse early stage product development team.
- Drive full development cycle for prototype systems, including component selection, schematic design, PCB layout and creating physical assemblies.
- Hands on testing, debugging and evaluation prototype systems.
- Hands on work soldering, troubleshooting and working with test equipment.
- Lead the design of future products including power electronics such as inverters/converters.
Required Skills:
- B.S. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field
- 1 years of circuit board and power electronics design experience
- Proficient with electronics design software (Altium, Eagle or similar)
- Comfortable with component sourcing, schematic design and PCB layout
- Knowledge of the PCB production process and material requirements
- Knowledge of signals, EMC, and analog layout design practices
- Understanding of MCU communication protocols (I2C, SPI, etc)
- Proficient with hands on electronic prototyping including; SMT soldering, operating oscilloscopes and other electronic test instruments
- General ability to pay attention to detail and document your work.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with projects such as electric vehicles, hobby solar car, panels, batteries, etc
- Experience with battery management systems and power conversion systems
- Experience with grid technology
