Position works under the supervision of the Manager, Human Resources. The Talent Acquisition (TA) Specialist performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level with both breadth and depth across the Talent Acquisition lifecycle. The TA Specialist will fulfill SVMH’s talent needs through external hiring, internal transfer and contingent staffing. The Talent Acquisition Specialist is empowered to independently resolve a broad range of customer inquiries and requests.

  • Completes intake and strategy sessions with hiring managers to ensure the job description/posting accurately reflects the job duties, qualifications and appropriate competencies. Reviews and finalizes the job requisition before posting.
  • Sources talent through various recruitment channels and talent pools (e.g., Hartnell College, LinkedIn, Assoc. of OR RN’s). Engages the TA Sourcing Specialist for hard-to-fill and leadership roles.
  • Screens applications to narrow the applicant pool and routes the most qualified applicants to the hiring manager for review. Conducts assessment interviews for hard-to-fill and leadership positions. Advises leaders on the standard talent selection process to ensure the right talent is selected. For internal positions, coordinates the appropriate checks for internal applicants (e.g., check of disciplinary record, employee health check, and reference with current supervisor).
  • Partners with the hiring manager to prepare the conditional offer based on our compensation philosophies and union contracts. Delivers the job offer and negotiates on behalf of the hiring manager and organization.
  • Initiates the onboarding process including pre-employment checks (e.g., referencing, background checks, lab work, and pre-employment health screen). Completes onboarding paperwork with the new hire, enrolls in orientation and enters into the HR information system in partnership with the HR Generalist. Conducts new hire orientation.
  • Manages contingent staffing vendors and contractors including the selection, onboarding process and ongoing compliance requirements. Continuously evaluates our non-employee/contractor programs for improvement.
  • Partners with the HRIS, Reporting, and Compliance Specialist to complete annual step increases and explore opportunities to streamline and create automated interfaces and notifications.
  • Partners with the Leave Management specialist as it relates to preparing an offer for an internal employee currently on an approved leave of absence.
  • Partners with the Total Rewards specialist when the recommended offer surpasses the 50th percentile or creates a real or perceived inequity. Additionally, to keep a pulse on the market and any upcoming compensation adjustments or changes in compensation philosophy.
  • Creates, inputs, and maintains computer data files, tracks and calculates data, and compiles reports as necessary.
  • Assists in the cover/relief of other department staff as needed and assists with special projects as necessary. Demonstrates necessary flexibility in regard to changes in the Hospital or department activities.
  • The position is expected to have a high level of political acumen and is expected to make decisions, handle complex problems, and provide support to clients including managing the same issue with both employees and management.
  • Is able to work independently with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in business or Human Resources related field strongly preferred.

Licensure: HRCI or SHRM HR certification is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience preferably in Talent Acquisition / Recruitment.
