Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and motivated Wine Bar Manager to oversee our small but exciting natural wine bar and market in the heart of Essex, VT. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring customer satisfaction, and showcase a broad spectrum knowledge and enthusiasm for wine, food, and hospitality. This role does require either 5 years of finer dining experience, wine certifications, or food and beverage management (retail or restaurant).
Duties:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the bar and assist in the market.
- Hire, train, and supervise bar staff
- Maintain a high level of customer service.
- Create and maintain a welcoming and approachable atmosphere for patrons
- Handle everything from busy service rushes, customer questions, challenging customer interactions, and do all of the above in a professional manner.
- Expected to participate in all aspects of hospitality including but not limited to side work, helping do support tasks including helping with dishes and glassware, hosting, taking and seating reservations etc.
- Ordering and organizing the by the glass program, tasting with sales reps from distributors, and organizing specials poured by the glass or offered by the bottle.
-Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Oversee bar events
- Take initiative to run or lead classes and/or in store tastings.
Qualifications:
Most of all a passion and enthusiasm for friendly, approachable, knowledgeable service focused on wine and food is our most important trait for this candidate. - Previous experience in hospitality management, with a focus on wine (required)
- Proficiency in Resy or similar reservation systems
- Strong team management skills with the ability to lead by example
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of inventory management practices
- Experience in shift management and scheduling
Compensation Package
- A base salary (some negotiation possible for the right candidate)
